Solid Fabrics by the Meter for Sewing and Designing

Solid fabrics are single-color fabrics and are versatile. They can be excellently combined with patterned fabrics, but can also make an impression on their own through their color, texture, and material quality.

At GrüneStoffe, you will find high-quality solid fabrics by the meter for various applications – from clothing and decoration to curtains, upholstery, and furniture covers. Our range includes fabrics for indoor and outdoor use in many modern colors and different material qualities.

Solid Fabrics for Many Applications

We offer both lightweight and heavy solid fabrics. Depending on their quality, they are suitable, for example, for clothing, decoration, upholstery work, or outdoor use.

Some outdoor fabrics have water- or dirt-repellent properties. For indoor upholstery fabrics, you will find robust qualities with various weave structures and surfaces.

The specific properties and care instructions can be found on each product page.

Our solid fabrics are offered by the meter. The price refers to one meter of fabric. The fabric width can vary depending on the product and is often about 140 cm for upholstery fabrics. The fabric is delivered in one piece.

What are Solid Fabrics Made Of?

Solid fabrics are made from various fiber materials. These include:

  • Cotton

  • Linen

  • Wool

  • Silk

  • Viscose

  • Polyester

In addition, various blended fabrics are available depending on the application. Recycled fiber materials are also used for selected fabric qualities.

Our cotton fabrics include, for example, canvas and poplin in various colors and qualities.

Which Color Suits My Project?

The choice of the right solid fabric depends on your personal taste, the intended area of use, and the desired combination with other colors and materials.

Whether soft pastel tones, strong colors, or classic shades like cream, beige, grey, terracotta, and brown – different design styles can be achieved with single-color fabrics.

Solid fabrics are also excellently suited as a complement to patterned fabrics. Colors like blue and yellow or red and green can, for example, be used as a contrast. Different nuances of the same color family can also be combined.

What Can I Do with Solid Fabrics?

Depending on the material and quality, solid fabrics can be used for numerous textile projects. These include:

  • Upholstery fabrics

  • Patchwork

  • Clothing

  • Decoration

  • Upholstery

  • Curtains and drapes

  • Outdoor projects

Solid-colored fabrics are also suitable for DIY projects. For first sewing projects, cushion covers, for example, are a good way to practice using the sewing machine. Since no pattern repeat needs to be considered with a solid fabric, cutting can be correspondingly simpler.

With increasing experience, more demanding projects such as clothing, bags, backpacks, curtains, or upholstery work can also be realized.

Depending on the material and construction, upholstery fabrics can not only be sewn, but also used, for example, to cover chairs, corner benches, or other pieces of furniture. Depending on the furniture and upholstery fabric, stapling or gluing may be used, among other methods.

Examples of the Use of Solid Fabrics

Solid fabrics can be used for the following projects, depending on their quality:

  • Seating furniture

  • Sofas and couches

  • Armchairs

  • Chairs

  • Corner benches

  • Seat cushions

  • Clothing

  • Jackets and trousers

  • Bags and backpacks

  • Bean bags

  • Curtains and drapes

  • Decorations

Even smaller fabric remnants can be used for creative projects, for example, to cover foam for seat cushions or other textile applications.
